Schriever SFB celebrates 25 years

Schriever Space Force Base held a ceremony June 21, 2023, to celebrate both the 40th anniversary of the groundbreaking for Falcon Air Force Station and the 25th anniversary of the renaming of the installation to Schriever Air Force Base, which in 2021 was renamed to Schriever Space Force Base.

Colorado Springs to host DEL 15, two Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Squadrons

The U.S. Space Force’s Space Delta 15, activated in March 2023, is expected to be permanently based at Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado, along with the new 75th Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Squadron. Additionally, the service expects the 74th ISR Squadron, activated in November 2022, to be based at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado.

First USSF SDA site in Chile strengthens space security

The collaborative efforts between the Chilean Air Force, U.S. Southern Command, and U.S. Space Command to advance combined space domain awareness, came to fruition when the half-meter class telescope, typically referred to as a “Raven-class” telescope, was implemented on Cerro Moreno Air Base in Antofagasta, Chile, on March 27, 2023.

U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Benjamin Tuck, special technical operations chief for the Joint Task Force-Space Defense, is the sole active-duty Marine in the organization who brings critical operations planning knowledge and strategy to the protect-and-defend mission.

JCO hosts French Delegation

Joint Task Force-Space Defense Commercial Operations Cell (JCO) hosts a French Delegation during Space Symposium 38 in Colorado Springs, Colo., April 19, 2023.
