Missile Warning Center

The Missile Warning Center (MWC) is a joint operations center under U.S. Space Forces – Space with a 24/7 mission of delivering global strategic and theater missile warning and nuclear detonation detection on behalf of U.S. Space Command. The center incorporates data from space-based and terrestrial sensors in a worldwide missile warning network, performs threat validation, and delivers accurate, timely attack information.

MWC operators also perform domestic launch oversight and support weapons-system change control, operational testing oversight, sustainment advocacy, and evolving-threat development. The center is located at Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and is staffed by joint service military and civilian personnel, including Canadian partners.

Joint Overhead Persistent-Infrared Center

The Joint Overhead Persistent-Infrared (OPIR) Center (JOPC) is a joint organization comprised of National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, U.S. Space Forces – Space, and U.S. Space Command personnel. Located at Buckley Space Force Base, Colorado, JOPC conducts unified mission management to optimize the OPIR enterprise for national-level decision makers, warfighters, and the Intelligence Community.

JOPC plans, tasks, monitors, and assesses OPIR operations; provides 24/7 OPIR reach-back and customer support; and works with worldwide collection managers to develop collection strategies and sensor-operations guidance. It provides tailored support to combatant commands and partner coalition operations centers while building capacity through coalition, commercial, and civil partnerships.

Joint Navigation Warfare Center

Located at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico, the Joint Navigation Warfare Center (JNWC) is the Department of Defense’s center of excellence for navigation warfare and positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) capability integration and operations across combatant commands, services, the interagency, and allies.

Mission: Enable PNT superiority for the Department of Defense, interagency, and coalition partners. Navigation warfare maintains friendly use of PNT information while denying the same to an adversary.

• Provide and protect the effective use of military Global Positioning System and other PNT services by U.S. and allied forces worldwide.
• Prevent adversaries from effectively using PNT services in areas of military operations.
• Preserve civil GPS PNT services for non-combatants outside areas of military operations.
