MWC welcomes German Air Force General, enhances U.S.-German missile defense cooperation

JCO hosts German Parliament Member

Members of the U.S. Space Command Strategic Engagements team hosted Mr. Kevin Leiser, German Parliament Member, at the Joint Commercial Operations cell in Colorado Springs, Colo., March 27, 2024. Leiser received a JCO mission brief to better understand the unique aspects and value of JCO operations. Leiser also received briefings on missile warning and missile defense mission sets as part of a larger visit with the U.S. Space Command plans and policy division. The JCO supports the National Space Defense Center’s core protect-and-defend mission and remain an extension of the NSDC operations floor, leveraging commercial providers to provide diverse, timely Space Domain Awareness.

U.S. Sen. Bennet visits NSDC, JCO

U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet of Colorado visits the National Space Defense Center and Joint Commercial Operations cell at Schriever Space Force Base, Colo., April 4, 2024. The JCO is an extension of the National Space Defense Center operations floor, and it leverages commercial providers to provide diverse, timely Space Domain Awareness in direct support of the NSDC’s core protect and defend mission. The NSDC directly supports space defense unity of effort and expands information sharing in space defense operations among the DoD, National Reconnaissance Office, and other interagency partners. The NSDC is one of five operations centers for U.S. Space Forces – Space. The S4S mission is to plan, integrate, conduct, and assess global space operations in order to deliver combat relevant space effects, in, from, and to space, for Combatant Commanders, Coalition partners, the Joint Force, and the Nation.

CIC members gather for CONOP development

The two day workshop was designed to bring together key stakeholders from the Combined Space Operations Center, U.S. Space Forces-Space and commercial mission partners to collaborate on a formalized CONOP that would align the collective vision for the CIC. During the workshop, attendees revised the CIC mission statement and vision to better capture the way forward to continue commercial integration into operations.
