VANDENBERG SPACE FORCE BASE, Calif. –
U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Douglas A. Schiess, U.S. Space Forces - Space Commander and Combined Joint Force Space Component Commander, acted as the guest speaker for a Memorial Day ceremony at the Lompoc Cemetery in Lompoc, Calif., May 27, 2024. More than 100 residents and veterans gathered for the event which included the reading of fallen members' names, the laying of wreaths, and military musical tributes.
"I’m proud to serve alongside every one of you," Schiess said. "Let’s honor the legacy of those that came before us and continue to carry ourselves with unmatched integrity and commitment to the defense of our Nation. Never forget that Freedom is not free."
The ceremony was hosted by the American Legion Post 211.
