Previous NSDC mission director awarded Defense Meritorious Service Medal for outstanding service

18 SDS Activates New Detachment in support of JTF-SD

The 18th Space Defense Squadron Det. 1 was activated during an assumption of command ceremony here, July 14, 2022. Det. 1 will provide timely and actionable Space Domain Awareness for emergent and existing threats that are identified by the Joint Task Force-Space Defense’s National Space Defense Center as on-orbit threats. U.S. Space Force Maj. Nathan Glandon will take the reins as the inaugural 18 SDS Det. 1 commander.

Joint Staff Approves SPACE FLAG as its First Accredited Space Exercise

The Space Training and Readiness Command was recently notified that the Joint Staff affirmed the Joint National Training Capability (JNTC) Accreditation of the U.S. Space Force SPACE FLAG exercise at the 392d Combat Training Squadron, Space Delta 1, Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado. SPACE FLAG now joins the ranks with programs like the U.S. Air Force RED FLAG exercise, the U.S. Army’s Joint Warfighter Assessment, and the U.S. Navy’s Fleet Synthetic Training as programs with the capability to provide a realistic environment that includes applicable elements of joint context, which are common measures for describing all service training programs.
