VANDENBERG SPACE FORCE BASE, Calif. –
As part of a trip to multiple sites within Colorado Springs, Under Secretary of the Air Force Matt Lohmeier visited the National Space Defense Center at Schriever Space Force Base, Colo., Feb. 24, 2026.
The purpose of the visit was to understand the operation center's ongoing modernization efforts, discuss operational readiness, and connect with the Total Force leaders who actively protect and defend the space domain. He engaged with U.S. Space Force Lt. Gen. Dennis Bythewood, S4S commander and the Combined Joint Force Space Component commander; Col. Bryan Bell, Space Delta 15 commander and National Space Defense Center director; Chief Master Sgt. Tina Timmerman, S4S command senior enlisted leader; Senior Master Sgt. John Harms, DEL 15/NSDC senior enlisted leader; and several members of the NSDC team.
Lohmeier also coined Kristine Jones, an NSDC intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance collection management division chief, for her exceptional impact on the command's mission and her critical role in providing the intelligence necessary to protect and defend U.S. and allied space assets.
The NSDC is a subordinate center of U.S. Space Forces – Space (S4S) responsible for coordinating military, intelligence, civil, and commercial space efforts for unified space defense operations to achieve space superiority.
