VANDENBERG SPACE FORCE BASE, Calif. –
In support of Hurricane Helene relief effort, the Tactical Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Tracking team assigned to U.S. Space Forces – Space Joint Commercial Operations cell, provided imagery analysis to U.S. Northern Command Oct. 3-5, 2024, of road closures, road conditions, and bridges on ground routes between Knoxville, Tennessee, and Asheville, North Carolina.
Through the TacSRT program, the U.S. Space Force was able to produce on-demand, agile imagery with actionable information and analysis of points, routes, and areas impacted by flood damage. This led to the successful recovery by the 563rd Personnel Recovery Task Force of four injured civilians in North Carolina.
The JCO’s TacSRT team leverages emerging commercial data analytics capabilities with commercial space sensing data, exploiting existing information and buying only what is required. This allows for the rapid, dynamic and competitive acquisition of relevant data to meet immerging operational needs. Commercial companies interested in being connected with the JCO can do so through the Space System Command Front Door.
