VCJCS Visits the Frontlines of Navigation Warfare

The Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, U.S. Marine Corps Gen. Christopher J. Mahoney, visited the Joint Navigation Warfare Center (JNWC) at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico, March 30, 2026.

The visit focused on the JNWC's mission to enable positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) superiority for the Department of Defense, interagency partners, and the nation.

The JNWC is a joint-staff organization, under the U.S. Space Command, that provides the Department of Defense with the joint force, PNT warfighting capability.

U.S. Space Force Lt. Gen. Dennis Bythewood, U.S. Space Forces-Space (S4S) commander and Combined Joint Force Space Component commander, welcomed the Vice Chairman to the center.

The Vice Chairman received briefs from JNWC leadership, including Mr. Robert Hoffman, the JNWC director, and Lt. Col. Jevon H. Thomas, the center’s military deputy, on the current PNT threat landscape and the JNWC’s capabilities to mitigate those threats.
