The U.S. Space Forces - Space (S4S) Commercial Integration Office takes full advantage of the speed, innovation, and capabilities offered by the commercial sector to create strategic advantage and support U.S. Space Command and other Combatant Command objectives in times of peace, competition, crisis and conflict.

There are two primary commercial integration cells within S4S:

Joint Commercial Operations Cell
(JCO)

Thye JCO provides the space defense enterprise with timely and accurate collection, analysis, and warning of potential counterspace activity, leveraging industry and allied capabilities at the NOT CLASSIFIED level to enable maximum distribution and collaboration in support of operational and strategic objectives.

JCO Global is comprised of three regional JCO Cells (JCO-Americas, JCO-Meridian, and JCO-Pacific) aligned by longitudinal time zone coverage to eventually enable rotating 24/7 commercial space operations.

Commercial Integration Cell
(CIC)

The S4S CIC enables operational and technology exchange between U.S. Space Command and commercial partners. This real-time and near real-time information flow allows for rapid, informed response to space events and improves Space Domain Awareness.

The CIC integrates members into current operations and planning through operational-level experimentation, exercise participation, and tactics, techniques and procedures development to improve domain awareness, enhance operations, and increase resiliency.

Danish Rear Admiral Damgaard Rousøe, Danish Defence Attaché, right, observes space domain awareness data with U.S. Space Force Lt. Col. Mark Natale, left, Joint Commercial Operations cell director, in Colorado Springs, Colo. Sept. 26, 2024. Currently, Denmark is not a JCO partner, but the visit served as a familiarization visit for the Danish delegation, and an opportunity to explore the potential of integrating commercial sensors into space operations.
